The Bulgarian Way
After wrapping up their stay in Poland, our CAN team headed to Bulgaria to meet with our in-country representative and visit the orphanages that we’re partnered with. Here’s their latest blog post about their experience in Bulgaria thus far:
As you drive around the city you notice the economic hardships the country has faced and many of the buildings are marked with graffiti. A lot of the children who have been deemed orphans are typically given up do to poverty, parents mental state, and parents socioeconomic status. It is unimaginable to picture giving away your own child simply because you do not have the means to help you and your child survive…But, this is the reality for many parents in Bulgaria. The country is developing a stronger foster care system so thankfully the children are starting to live in a family based environment versus an institution.
I cannot believe this incredible journey is now coming to and end. These past couple of days have been spent meeting with our current partners in country and also building relationships with potential new partners as a means to match more children with forever families. The program itself has grown tremendously over the past year and after this trip I anticipate the number of children matched per year to double, at least.
Today we are going to an orphanage and I will get to meet one of the children whose file we recently received. Stay tuned!
Our Bulgaria Waiting Child adoption program is a great fit for families that are open to children with needs or sibling groups. One of the amazing families in our Bulgaria adoption program has begun submitting their paperwork to adopt a sibling group of THREE!
When they first met, Kam and Travis would have never imagined that they would be adopting a sibling group of three, however, over the years they began to feel that God had a sense of humor when it came to answering their prayers. While adoption had always held a place in Kam’s heart, Travis took a little bit longer to come around to the idea of it. In 2010 when a devastating earthquake struck Haiti, Travis saw the need of children around the world and began to feel that his heart was opening to the idea of adopting.
When the time came for Kam and Travis to select a program to adopt through, they decided to sign up for our Bulgaria Waiting Child program, as Kam had traveled there previously on a mission trip. While she was there, she was surprised by the impact that the older orphans had on her, as they were fully aware of their situation and of the loss in their lives. Adopting an older sibling group just made sense to both of them.There is such a need when it comes to taking care of the orphan but there is an even greater need for sibling groups. The larger the group or older they are, the smaller their chances are of ever having a forever family. The odds go down even more if there are boys in the group. Since Kam and Travis already have 3 boys in their family they felt that adopting a sibling group with two boys and one girl would just add to the fun!
Kam and Travis are both very excited to begin their journey towards bringing their kiddos home from Bulgaria so that they can add to their three ring circus!

Sisters from Bulgaria Matched!

Bulgarian Sisters Need a Family!
“Adopting one child won’t change the world, but for that one child the whole world will change.”
Could you imagine, as a young girl, leaving your home with your little sister and reporting your family to social services? Unfortunately, for many children this is a common theme, and one pair of our siblings experienced this scenario first hand. Autumn and Audrey are healthy sisters living in Bulgaria who were not dealt the best hand in the earlier years of their lives. Even with the ups and downs that they have experienced, both girls are extremely resilient and are looking forward to finding a safe and loving forever family. They are 12 and 15 years old and love the outdoors, playing volleyball, and of course spending time together. They are both doing wonderful in school and all of their social workers and teachers have nothing but positive things to say about them. 6 Bulgarian Waiting Children Find Forever Families!
What an exciting week this has been for our Bulgaria Waiting Child program, six kids have been have been matched with their Forever Families! 
These children – not pictured here for privacy purposes – are in two different sibling groups. The first sibling set is a brother and sister, ages 11 and 12, and the second sibling group is four different kiddos ranging in age from 9 to 15 years old!
It is so amazing to see families welcoming in these wonderful sibling groups, helping them to transition from a shared past to a shared future. A huge CONGRATULATIONS to each of these children and their new Forever Families from all of us at Children of All Nations!

- Kennedy, 8, and her older brother Evan, 9, both have mild delays, and can’t wait to find their Forever Family!
- Gage is a 7 year old boy who loves to play with technology!
- Penelope and Delilah are 13 and 11 year old sisters who have been working hard to learn English so that they can communicate the family that adopts them!
