Children of All Nations CEO, Snow Wu, made an exploratory trip to Nepal in April of 2010. The focus of Snow’s trip was to personally evaluate Nepal's international adoption program. While in Nepal, Snow met at length with Nepal’s central adoption authority, the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Services, as well as many key personnel involved in inter-country adoptions. Snow also had the opportunity to visit several local orphanages. After gaining first-hand insight into the Nepal adoption process, Snow has decided that we are able to reopen our Nepal adoption program.
As an organization, Children of All Nations is aware the Nepal adoption program reopened this year under the guidance of a new government structure. These changes, and the newness of the government in Nepal, add to the general risk involved with all international adoption. Additionally, the US Department of State and Hague council have expressed concerns about Nepal's adoption program (http://adoption.state.gov/news/nepal.html). These concerns are exactly why Children of All Nations chose to put this program on hold. We did not reopen the program until Snow returned from her fact-finding trip. While there is still risk involved, Snow feels confident that the dire situation of the children, and the Nepali government's dedication to improving the adoption process, warranted the reopening of the program. The circumstances in Nepal are dire, and children are in need of urgent help. We are ready to help and encourage families to inquire about this program.
